In the here and now | Real life stories
Our youngest survived his freshman year in college!! YAY! It wasn’t the easiest year for him; he chose a tough engineering school, and we are so proud of him for rising to the challenge. We picked him up on Monday; having him home is so good!
And then, my laundry room exploded! A massive pile of laundry because, um, a 19-year-old boy! Clean and dirty, all came home together. It’s now clean and folded. Somehow, his t-shirts multiplied at college, so I asked him to sort out what he doesn’t wear anymore. We’ll donate those to ARC.
Our oldest will be home for a week, arriving on Sunday — then it’s back to Bozeman for work this summer.

Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian who, along with her family, helped many Jews escape the Holocaust during World War II. While not herself a mother, she was a “mother” to many in the way she loved, nurtured, mentored, and cared for others. Here are some of her thoughts about mothers:
On this special day, we celebrate and honor all mothers—the ones who are still with us, the ones we’ve lost, and those who long to be mothers. We recognize that motherhood is a gift from God, reflecting His love and nurturing nature.
To those who have a mother’s love guiding them, we are grateful for the blessings and sacrifices they have made. May we cherish the precious moments and express gratitude for their unwavering care and support.
I pray for comfort and healing for those who have lost their mothers. May God’s presence bring solace in times of grief, and may the memories of love and warmth bring comfort to your heart.
To those who long to be mothers, I pray for your hopes and desires to be fulfilled according to God’s perfect timing. May you find strength and encouragement in knowing that God sees your heart’s longing and has a plan for you.
And let us remember the ultimate example of a mother’s love found in God Himself. He nurtures and cares for us unconditionally, just as a mother does for her child.
