This DIY Sugar Scrub recipe makes beautiful homemade gifts, especially since I have free printable labels. Perfect for face & body exfoliating scrub in your bath and shower. Apply a small amount on wet skin and rub in a circular motion, gently.

I love making homemade gifts, you might try our reader favorites: Try this salt scrub, DIY Lemon & Peppermint Antibacterial Hand Scrub, Homemade Golden Milk Mix, or Carrabba’s seasoning.

Strawberries make a great addition to simple sugar scrubs; they are high in Vitamin C which helps combat oily skin and acne and their acidity helps exfoliate dead skin cells.

What I love about this DIY Hand Scrub

  • It is so simple, takes less than 5 minutes to make!
  • All natural, healthy ingredients, nourishes dry skin
  • Makes a beautiful homemade body products gift for friends, mom’s, teachers, neighbors…you get the idea!
  • Brings a luxurious spa experience into your own home
  • You can use on your face, hands and body.
  • Smells amazing!
Strawberry Sugar Scrub ingredients L-R sugar, coconut oil, jojoba oil, strawberry powder, strawberry essential oil.

Ingredients for Whipped Sugar Scrub Soap Recipe

  • ALL NATURAL CANE ORGANIC SUGAR | You can certainly use white sugar here, your foaming bath butter will be smoother. You can even use brown sugar but your end product will be darker. I like working with organic cane sugar, the sugar acts as the primary exfoliate.
  • ORGANIC COCONUT OIL | benefits for skin, including reducing inflammation, keeping skin moisturized and helping heal wounds. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria.” This is the whipped soap base.
  • JOJOBA OIL | “Jojoba oil contains oodles of vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties, but what sets it apart from the others is that it’s technically not an oil, but a wax ester. What does this mean for your skin? “Jojoba oil has a similar molecular structure and composition to sebum, which the skin naturally produces for moisturization“
  • FREEZE DRIED STRAWBERRIES | Freeze dried strawberries are available most grocery stores, near dried fruits. I like Trader Joe’s. High in Vitamin C, and acidic to help exfoliation as well as lighten dark spots on your face and body.
  • STRAWBERRY ESSENTIAL OIL | Or other essential oils, this is delicious with strawberry and very spring and summer like. You could also try adding a few drops of lavender or chamomile for a relaxing DIY Sugar Scrub. You may certainly change it up and use your favorite essential oils.

DISCLAIMER | I am not a physician or specialist; I have done my own research and using natural products like this have worked for my family. As always consult your medical provider, if you have concerns.

Recommended Equipment

A few items you will need to make this spa like whipped sugar soap scrub:

  • Stand or Hand Mixer | This is a whipped soap scrub recipe
  • Ingredients listed above
  • Cute glass jar | I used these mini Tulip jars, they are a bit pricey, these 4 oz mason jars and 8 oz wide mouth jars are another favorite; any sealable, clean 4-8 oz jar will work.
  • Labels (see below for free label printing options)

Instructions

  1. Measure ingredients, then whip coconut oil with a whisk attachment in stand mixer or in a large mixing bowl using a hand mixer for 4-5 minutes until light and somewhat fluffy.
process shots for strawberry sugar scrub, whipped coconut oil and pouring in Jojoba oil.
  1. Slowly whip in sugar, Jojoba oil, and strawberry essential oil if using.
  2. Add strawberry powder | pulse freeze dried strawberries in my Ninja smoothie blender, or place in plastic bag and use rolling pin or heavy jar to crush.

  1. Spoon into clean jars, seal, tie with some raffia or twine and affix a label.

Gifting Ideas

You all know I love great homemade gifts, and this one is no different!

I wanted this gift to look like it was from a specialty store; tie some bakers twine or jute around it, secure a cute wooden scoop or wood spoon to the jar.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Sugar Scrub last

General rule of thumb for scrub’s is look at the date on your oils, in this one I would use the date on the Coconut oil as your use by date.

Does sugar scrub need to be refrigerated?

It really doesn’t, in fact it would harden up, but as long as you watch the date from your coconut oil use by date, you should be good.

Is sugar scrub edible?

Yes, all of the ingredients in this DIY scrub are edible! Not that you would, but hey, why not!

Can you use Sugar Scrub on your face?

Sugar scrub is safe for the face and the body, in fact when used on the face it can help reduce acne as well as lighten dark spots.

FREE PRINTABLE GIFT LABELS

A label makes all the difference, I created these pretty labels for you to print on round labels or punch out. Simply click the link below for the free printable sugar scrub labels.

I made 1 ยฝ″ round labels if using smaller jars and 3″ round labels if using the wide mouth mason jar.

Clickable button for free sugar scrub printable labels.

Typically, I use 65# white or kraft paper for most my gift tags, they hold up well and punch well. I have a couple of punches to make tags easier not requiring me to use a whole sheet of labels; this 1 ยฝ inch punch and 3 inch punch are great!

Homemade sugar scrub like this DIY Sugar Scrub is fantastic for Mother’s Day, birthday gifts, this soap sugar scrub makes great bridal and baby shower favors; or hostess, teacher appreciation, get well, just because, new neighbor, Easter, Holiday and Christmas…oh, you get the idea!

The oil is what binds it, as long as use another oil it should work.
