Simple Ingredients for the best Pizza Sliders recipe
- Rolls | I use the trusted and loved King’s Hawaiian Rolls for sliders. However, the “big and fluffy” Hawaiian rolls by Aunt Millies are another excellent choice if you want even fluffier rolls. Any soft dinner rolls will do the trick!
- Pizza sauce | Grab your favorite jar of pizza sauce from the grocery store or easily make this homemade pizza sauce for a more authentic and fresh flavor.
- Cheese | You need shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan. I suggest shredding and grating blocks of cheese for this recipe. Freshly shredded cheese melts more easily and tastes better.
- Pepperoni | Use either regular or turkey pepperoni slices. I like uncured pepperoni.
- Seasoning | Season the sliders in layers with Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes.
- Garlic Butter Sauce | Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and garlic powder for a buttery topping.
Recommended Tools
- Use a 9×13 inch pan or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Box Grater, I love this one as it contains the cheese.
- Basting Brush to slather on that butter sauce
How to Make Pepperoni Pizza Sliders
Get ready to indulge in the best pizza slider recipes!
First, preheat the oven to 350° F (175° C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Next, keeping the package of rolls all connected, slice the soft rolls in half lengthwise and place the bottom half of the buns in the baking dish, spreading the pizza sauce evenly over the bottom of the rolls.
Fresh Tip
- Slice the bottom half slightly thicker than the top half, so your rolls don’t get soggy.
Then, sprinkle on half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, place the pepperoni in an even layer over the top, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
Now, add the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese plus ¼ cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top of the pepperoni and place the top half of the buns.
Mix the garlic powder with the melted butter in a small bowl until well combined. Then, pour the butter glaze over the top of the rolls. Use a pastry brush to cover them entirely with the sauce if needed. And finally, sprinkle the red pepper flakes and a little grated parmesan cheese on top!
Next, cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the recipe is hot throughout and the cheese is melted. Then, remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining two tablespoons of parmesan cheese, and continue baking for 5-10 minutes until the cheese is toasted.
Lastly, garnish the sliders with additional red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and fresh basil if desired. Enjoy!
Fresh Tips for Pizza Sliders Recipe
- Feel free to add more or less of any ingredients, but try not to overload the buns.
- If you’d like, serve the pizza sliders with dipping sauces, like ranch, marinara sauce, or garlic aioli, to take it to the next level!
- Allow the sliders rest for 5 minutes after baking to help them stay together.
- If preferred, use a baking sheet instead of a dish. This is an excellent method when you are doubling the recipe!

You can freeze the sliders before or after baking! After assembling the sliders, cover them tightly with plastic wrap, then aluminum foil, and freeze for up to three months.
PreBaked Frozen Pizza Sliders: Allow them to cool, and place them in an airtight container to freeze for up to 6 months. When baking, write a note on the foil to remove the plastic wrap first!
To bake from frozen: remove any plastic wrap and replace the foil, place in a preheated oven, baking for 20 minutes, remove the foil, and bake an additional 10-20 minutes until heated through.

Yes! Allow the sliders to cool for about 10 minutes, then wrap each slider individually in aluminum foil, place in a crockpot, lay some paper towels or a clean tea towel between the lid and the crock (this catches any condensation), and place the lid on, turn the slow cooker on warm.
