Good morning, dear friends and welcome back to Fresh Fridays!
And just like that, we slip from summer into fall; are the leaves changing where you live? The trees are starting to change here in Colorado, after our first snow (yes, snow) a few weeks ago, we are right back up in the 80’s and low 90’s. I admit I am ready for the slower, cooler weather of autumn, and to decorate with the warm, natural colors of fall.
Crisp weather re-energizes me; I tend to walk a little faster, look up and around instead of at the ground, and it drives my desire to make cozy, slow-cooked comforting recipes.
It’s been a hard week for our family, a dear friend brightened heaven with his presence this week. Our families have been in a small group since our kids were little, intertwined in one another’s lives. Grief is so crazy, everyone does it differently, there is no right or wrong way to grieve, but it is so important to grieve.
Admittedly, sometimes I stumble when I love, but as you probably know, my love language is food and so I naturally gravitate towards making a warm meal and delivering it with a hug, tears, love and oodles of prayer.
I made a large and quick batch of my Easy Chicken Noodle Soup, and because of time constraints I bought some Cheesecake Factory Rolls (have you had them? Oh my!), but if I had time, I would have made either this warm Russian Black Bread or these Copycat Cheesecake Factory Rolls.
Believe it or not, I have been recipe testing holiday recipes for the past month! Holiday recipes, gift ideas, decor, and DIY have been trending since August! Uncharacteristically early — hmm might have something to do with this crazy year we’re experiencing.
This week, I have a brand new recipe for you; I think you are going to love it and it’s not only for the holidays, make a half recipe and serve as a side dish anytime!
What is a Cheesy Potato Casserole? Only the best potato side dish on the planet, okay maybe I’m exaggerating, maybe I’m not, up to you to decide. Find out what I did to make these different…better! Just follow the link above or below.

Fall arrived in full force this year in the PNW and we’ve had rain, rain, rain so I haven’t really observed if the colors are changing yet! It does typically get very beautiful here.
