Tick-tock and I don’t mean the social media platform, I mean time. Friends do you realize we’re close to the end of October and not to freak you out or anything but; Christmas is 66 days away! (I’ll be honest, I freaked out)
Thank you to those of you who reached out to me with your sweet, kind, and encouraging words about the website, about my life, and just in general. It truly makes my day!! I even ran into a neighbor yesterday who blessed me with her kind words of encouragement.
I’ve been working on loads of recipes lately because this is food season! All the warm and cozies, comfort foods, holiday dishes, and everything in between! But today, I am highlighting two NEW slider recipes that are perfect for the busy winter months.

In the here and now | Real-life stories
It’s been nose to the grindstone this week for me, with a few doctor appointments and meetings thrown in, to mix things up a bit. Except for one special treat, our youngest came home for his mini fall break, we were blessed to have him home with us 4 glorious days!
I’ve been battling a little discouragement with the blog recently. don’t get me wrong, I love it, and you all are AMAZING, but Google has pushed through no less than six major core updates in the past 4-6 weeks or so.
Their biggest one called the “helpful content” update, hurt a lot of bloggers! Cutting their traffic almost in half overnight, just so you know that correlates to a loss of about half their income! Youch!
What I lost was my webstory traffic (those little stories you see when looking at Google on your mobile phone), in the grand scheme of things it’s not a huge amount, but it’s made a difference. We are the mercy of google changing it’s mind.
My friend Eliza, who I am so blessed to work with most Tuesdays at the library with, was one such person. Would you do her a favor and check out her Billionaire bacon (even better, google that term) give her a little love and wish her a happy birthday too! And maybe share her blog Bensa Bacon Lovers Society on your favorite social media platform or with your friends.
Main Floor Remodel Update | Week 15
The needle is moving! We have doors on our pantry and our utility/coat closet and running water in our utility sink and we are finally moving things back into our family room — we needed some strong backs to help us with that!
Below are a few pictures I’ve taken this week of the progress!
While not the perfect color, I am really liking these simple and inexpensive slipcovers to buy us a little longer before we need to buy new ones. The love seat and the full-size couch.

Have you tried…
- Copycat Crumbl Chocolate Chip Cookies is a recipe I get compliments on all the time, and it is one recipe that I’ve lost traffic on thanks to google’s update. Pop on over to it and give it try!
- These Orange scones are tender, flavorful and surprisingly easy!!
- Family Favorite! Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya (made in the Instant Pot or Stovetop)

Best Gooey Cinnamon Rolls
This easy no-yeast quick bread is ready for the oven in minutes and is great to serve with breakfast, lunch or dinner!
This one is a keeper! Followed the recipe without adjustments except baked at 350 for 17 minutes, but that’s what works for my oven. I was a little skeptical about the 15 minute first “rise”, but they came out beautiful and yummy!!

Our pastor shared this quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer this weekend about balancing silence and community.
Let him who cannot be alone beware of community. But let him who is not in community beware of being alone. Each carries with it pitfalls and perils.
