Nourishing hearts as faithfully as we nourish our tables.
Season & Savor
Welcome — because feeding our bodies is not enough.
You might notice this space has a new name.
What I once called Soul Food Sunday is now Season & Savor.

This wasn’t a quick change or a rebrand for the sake of it. It’s something that’s been quietly working on me for a while now… the kind of nudge you don’t ignore forever.
Part of it is simple honesty.
A dear blogging friend of mine, Nikki from Soulfully Made, also shares reflections under the name “Soul Food.” And when I saw hers again recently, it stopped me in my tracks.
Not because she said anything. She didn’t.
But because I realized… I may have seen it at some point, tucked it away without realizing, and when it came time to name this space, it surfaced again.
And that didn’t sit quite right with me.
So this change is, in part, about honoring her. Giving credit where it’s due. And making sure this space reflects with honesty and integrity.
But it’s also about something deeper.
I’ve been thinking and praying about what to rename this for a while now. And just the other day, on a walk with my husband, we started talking it through. He asked me some really good questions, the kind that make you slow down and think a little deeper.
I had landed on Savor & See… but he’s the one who said, “What about Season?”
And the minute he said it, I knew.
I loved it.
And, well… I love him even more.
Season
We all find ourselves in different seasons.
Some are full and joyful, where the table is crowded and laughter comes easy.
Some feel stretched thin, where we’re just trying to get dinner on the table and keep up with the day.
And some… are quieter, heavier, where we’re carrying more than we let on.
Scripture reminds us:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
Not one season is wasted.
Not one is overlooked.
And just like in the kitchen, seasoning matters.
A pinch of salt or an herb can change everything.
A little time, a little heat, the right ingredients… and something ordinary becomes something worth slowing down for.
Maybe that’s true for our lives too.
God seasons us differently in different seasons.
Not always comfortably.
But always purposefully.
Savor
And then there’s the part I’m still learning…
To savor.
To slow down long enough to actually taste what’s right in front of me.
To pay attention.
To notice people.
To be present instead of rushing to the next thing.

The Bible says:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” — Psalm 34:8 (NIV)
Not rush and see.
Not skim and see.
Taste.
See.
Savor.
Because if we’re not careful, we can move so quickly through our days that we miss what God is doing right in the middle of them.
Why This Matters to Me
This little corner has never just been about food.
It’s about the people around the table.
The conversations.
The pauses.
The moments we almost miss because we’re moving too fast.
It’s about learning, slowly, to:
- be more present
- listen a little better
- circle back when it matters
Not perfectly. But intentionally.
Because the truth is, I don’t want to rush through this season of life… whatever it looks like right now. Something I wish I could tell my younger self.
I want to season it well. And I want to savor it fully.
Moving Forward
So this is still the same space.
Same heart.
Same desire to share something that feeds more than just our bodies.
Just a name that fits it a little better.
Season & Savor.
A reminder that:
- where you are right now matters
- how you live in it matters
- and there’s something worth noticing, even here
Still cooking, Still learning.
