Steak and Ale Pie Recipe
A classic British comfort food!
Prep and Season
Cut beef into 1-inch cubes. Sprinkle the meat with the flour, salt, and pepper, coating all sides.
Brown the Beef
Shake off excess flour from beef sear in hot pot. Sear the chunks of meat.
Add remaining ingredients
Add the shallots, garlic, and broth and scrape up remaining brown bits . Add tomato paste and continue cooking for another minute.
Add the browned beef, drippings, Worcestershire, and thyme.
Cover and cook for 80 minutes.
Deglaze and Bake
Prepare the crust
Line the counter with parchment paper, scatter freshly grated cheese on top. Sprinkle dry mustard and extra cheese and cover it with the remaining pastry sheet. Cut into a circle.
Once cooled, transfer the beef to the prepared pie dish. Seal puff pastry to the pie dish, brush with egg wash.
Finish assembling the pie
Slice, Serve & Enjoy!
