Stromboli vs Calzone
Stromboli is a rectangular pizza that is stuffed and rolled. But a calzone is a circle folded in half forming a pocket.
Step 1 | Roll
Roll the pizza dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface or Silpat.
If desired, brush the rolled dough with garlic butter or garlic oil and sprinkle on some freshly chopped parsley.
Step 1 | Layer the
meats and cheeses
Starting with the largest meat, create a single layer with a slight overlap. Start with the salami, then provalone and seasoning.
Next, add the capicola layer and sprinkle with mozarella cheese. Then finish the stromboli with a pepperoni layer.
Step 1 | Rolling Stromboli
Brush egg wash along edges and start rolling from the bottom.
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle salt and parsley.
Slice vents and bake your stromboli until golden brown and bubbly.
Slice the Italian Stromboli and dip a piece in hot marinara sauce!
