Marbled Christmas Sugar Cookies

A simple cut-out sugar cookie recipe with powdered sugar instead and beautiful marbled royal icing.

Ingredients

Let's Get Started!

Cream the butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Once the ingredients are light and fluffy, add the egg and vanilla until incorporated.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Add the kosher salt to the flour and mix. Slowly add ⅓ cup of the flour mixture at a time to the wet ingredients.

Chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes to prevent them from spreading when they bake. Preheat the oven to 350° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Chill Dough and Prep for Baking

Roll the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thickness with a rolling pin.

Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes towards the edge then move inward. Bake the cookies and cool on a wire rack.

Make the Icing

Whole they are baking and cooling, gather the ingredients for the icing.

To the powdered sugar, add clear vanilla, meringue powder, water and mix until smooth.

Add the Color

Pour the icing into bowls and drop gel coloring into each. Then, swirl with a toothpick. Then dip away!

Pour a glass of ice cold milk and enjoy!
